What kinds of experiences qualify as "interpersonal violence"?
There are many experiences that can be considered interpersonal violence, but some common forms include sexual assault, sexual battery, intimate partner violence, stalking, harassment, childhood physical/sexual abuse, robbery, theft, battery, home invasions, etc.
What can I expect from the group?
Each group will start with time designated to connect and reflect on the week prior. Introductions and group expectations will occur during this beginning time as well. Next, the group will have a discussion around a selected topic and then complete a related activity. Participation in all parts of the group are 100% voluntary so group members will not be made to share anything that makes them uncomfortable.
What topics might be covered by the group?
Possible topics include coping skills, control, anger, assertiveness & boundaries, building support systems, trust, self-compassion, and guilt/shame.
Can I join anytime?
Yes! The group is an open group so members are welcome to come and go whenever it fits their schedule. We just ask that if you commit to coming for a week, you stay for the duration of the group (1.5 hours). Otherwise, there's no obligation to come back, so try it out!
